Saturday, March 19th, the Multnomah County Democrats flocked to the Oregon Convention Center to honor the life and career of Barbara Roberts at the annual Dick Celsi dinner and fundraiser. An estimated crowd of 380 were treated to video tributes from DNC Chair Howard Dean, Sentator Ron Wyden, Congressman David Wu, and a very humerous tribute from Congresswoman Darlene Hooley. Democrats from all stripes including state legislators, grassroots activists, unionists, and precinct persons were out in droves to honor the former governor. Also attending were Congressman Earl Blumenauer, Governor Ted Kulongoski, Secretary of State Bill Bradbury, Attorney General Hardy Myers, Labor Commissioner Dan Gardner, and Portland Mayor Tom Potter. Attendance increased over 100 from last year's event, and we had to ask the caterers to set up additional seating. This fundraiser took many people to put together and it would be impossible to list them all in such a small space however Jenny Greenleaf and Joyce Mcgreevey both deserve special kudos. A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the Dick Celsi Dinner a success: the speakers, the attendees, the donors, the volunteers, our elected officials, and our partners in labor and in our fight for democracy.
