Sicko movie night- Friday, July 13th

We all know the bare facts...the U.S. Census Bureau reports that more than 44 million Americans were without health insurance in 2005. And the number of uninsured continues to rise. According to the Institute of Medicine "...Although America leads the world in spending on health care, it's the only wealthy, industrialized nation that does not ensure that all citizens have coverage."

There are several viable proposals for health care reform, including one from our own Democratic Senator, Ron Wyden. Movement on health care reform, however, is painfully slow. But it's about to receive the proverbial kick in the pants from filmmaker Michael Moore and his new movie 'Sicko'.

Told from the vantage point of ordinary Americans struggling with the health care system in our own country, the story that unfolds is poignant, sad, funny and maddening.

On Friday, July 13, 7:00 at Eastport Plaza (SE 82nd) The Multnomah County Democrats, in partnership with the Washington and Clackamas County Democrats, will gather to watch ‘Sicko'…together and in solidarity!ÂÂ

This will be a great time with additional information distributed at the door. Come join us for the movie and for coffee and conversation afterward.ÂÂ

Support health care reform, the Democratic Party, and the drive for reform! While we won't have discounted tickets, we will have each other..And what could be better on Friday the 13th?
