Ballot measures
At the August and September meetings of the Central Committee, the following actions were taken on ballot measures.
State Measures
* • Measure 39 prohibits public body from condemning private real property if intends to convey to private party.
Support Measure 39, because Government should not take someone's property and give it to a for-profit entity.
• Measure 41 amends income tax deduction equal to federal exemptions deduction to substitute for state exemption credit.
Oppose Measure 41, because Sizemore's Tax Scam would bankrupt our state.
Defend Oregon is the organized effort in opposition to this ballot measure.
• Measure 43 requires 48-hour notice to unemancipated minor's parent before providing abortion; authorizes lawsuits, physician discipline.
Oppose Measure 43, because parental notification could drive a troubled teen in an abusive home to put her life in jeopardy with an unlicensed abortion provider.
No on Measure #43 is the organized effort in opposition to this ballot measure.
• Measure 44 allows any Oregon resident without prescription drug coverage to participate in Oregon prescription drug program.
Support Measure 44, because it is the third item on our legislative agenda for health care: "Expand the prescription drug purchasing pool to include all Oregonians."
Yes on Measure 44 is the organized effort in support of this ballot measure.
• Measure 45 amends constitution: limits state legislators: six years as representative, eight years as senator, fourteen years in legislature.
Oppose Measure 45, because we don't want term limits to get rid of good legislators.
• Measure 48 amends constitution: limits biennial percentage increase in state spending to percentage increase in state population, plus inflation.
Oppose Measure 48, because we love Oregon, and TABOR decimated Colorado.
Defend Oregon is the organized effort in opposition to this ballot measure.
