The polls are only correct if Democrats turn out...

As of Friday morning, 120,194 people have voted in Multnomah County (31%). Turn out in many of our "safe" districts are very poor, falling below the county average -- some by more than 10%. We need your help. It is extremely critical that we turn out the vote here in Multnomah County. We have 20,000 people we need to reach, but for whom we do not have phone numbers. That means the only way we can reach those voters is at the doorstep. This is why we need you. With your help, we can continue to keep Multnomah County's turnout up, which helps to ensure Governor Kulongoski is re-elected. Multnomah County is EXTREMELY important, and we must increase turnout to win.

New poll shows Saxton up 2 points

From The Oregonian:
The battle between Democratic incumbent Ted Kulongoski and Republican Ron Saxton is essentially a dead heat, according to a new survey by Portland pollster Mike Riley.
The poll shows Saxton leading Kulongoski 39%-37%. Click here for the full poll. Saxton's support has been steadily growing since he started sending out a large number of mailers to Republicans and putting ads on TV. The poll shows he receives 72% of Republicans' vote. The same poll showed Kulongoski bringing in only 67% of Democrats' votes.

17 days until ballots, 35 days until Election Day-- what can you do?

Welcome to this week's volunteer newsletter. We're now only 17 days away from the day ballots begin arriving and 35 days from Election Day. As many may know, yesterday was the deadline for Contribution & Expenditure reports to be turned in by campaigns. These reports show how much money has been raised and spent, whom it came from, and where it's going. Ron Saxton's C&E report showed he brought in more than $3.5 million in contributions and spent over $2.89 million. On top of the $3.5 million were several more large donations received after the reporting cut-off, including $500,000 from the Republican Governors Association. Added in with his $800,000 remaining balance, and he still has more than a million left in the bank.

24 days until ballots drop... race for governor a dead heat

Welcome to this week's volunteer newsletter. We're now only 24 days away from the day ballots begin arriving and 42 days from Election Day. There's a lot to get done in the next 24 days, and with your help we can get it done. A new poll shows Governor Ted Kulongoski and Ron Saxton in a dead heat at 38% each, with 16% undecided. Unlike previous polls, this one was of likely voters, which is a better indicator of how an election may turn out. With people in the office making calls, and at the doorsteps talking to voters, we can change those numbers. Volunteer! Volunteer! Volunteer! 1. Keeping the Senate and Governor's Office Democratic
