The legislative power of the Democratic Party of Oregon is vested in the State Central Committee.
Members of the State Central Committee are made up of at least two delegates elected from each county and one additional delegate for each 15,000 registered Democrats, and comprise the main authortative body of the Democratic Party of Oregon (DPO).
County central committees like the Multnomah County Democratic Central Committee (MCDCC) elect delegates and alternate delegates to the State Central Committee at their organization meetings according to law and the bylaws of the county central committee.
In addition to the delgates from the county parties, Democratic members of the Oregon Legislative Assembly, members of the Executive Committee of the State Central Committee, and the membership of the Standing Committees of the State Central Committee are Associate Members of the State Central Committee.
The State Central Committee elects the officers of the Democratic Party of Oregon, fill vacancies in State Party offices, approves the budget of the State Central Committee and approves actions of the Executive Committee when required.
The DPO and the Multnomah County Democratic Party are active locally in numerous projects and issues, on a wide variety of interests and are dedicated to making people's lives better.
